1 - Introduce your sticker art project
For me, sticker is the most intimate medium of people expression, everyone is very possible to self-produce of visual, text, symbol and all kinds of the sign language on vinyl or adhesive paper. If we think about art we just set up our paradigm that how the sticker has a power of message and contextuality.
My project of sticker art always relates to my artworks; painting, mural, design and multimedia installation, in the other word, I used to print my sticker use images of my artworks that I have been done. That is like an archive and also as advance medium to communicate my ideas and messages widely, globally.
2 - In what creative ways have you collaborated with other sticker artists?
I used to send my sticker pieces to friends of artist and community to have interaction and review smallthing topics about everyday life in the urban city in Jakarta, Bali and Yogyakarta, and sometimes they give feedback to send back their stuff to my address. I think that is a humanitarian communicative way among people when the digital social media has locked up people in a screen cage.
In the project in art exhibitions I also had often invited to other sticker artists and sticker collectors to be involved in my art project such as "Urban Poor Exoticism" that was held in 2016 in Yogyakarta. The project was invited sticker artists also common people to express their ideas and complaints about everyday life to write and print on the vinyl and tape medium and stick fully on electricity poles and brought to the art gallery.
3 - Have you ever organized an event about sticker art? If not, you can write something about an event you have attended
I had not ever been organized of events sticker show in my home town, because many friends have already organized and so I just give support, input ideas then participated in the event. I would rather to involved in the event sticker shows in the global scenes, such as Stick’Azz in Lecce, Uberinvasao by Ropre in Brasil, Stick of It All Vidalooka in Bilbao, Punk Milk’s Autograff in Melbourne and other sticker projects in all over the world.
4 - What are your future projects in the world of sticker art?
I am always enthusiastic to make art installations with all possibilities of sticker medium, particularly the exploration of the shape and visual surfaces. I think that is important for the artists to make different way and escape from the monotonous approachment to produce an art work.
5 - What sticker artists do you admire or are important to you?
I have always respect to artists and also everyone who makes something great from the ordinary thing, and in the art world, some artists who have done to changed perspective about art are Andy Warhol, pop artist, and the pioneer of sticker art like Cost & Revs and BNE.
